Garlic Green Beans

This recipe I put together to tie in with my chicken adobo recipe. It is super easy and so good. I also serve this with other dishes, not just chicken adobo. With just a few ingredients, you have a delicious and simple side dish for your dinner menu.

Now, this recipe calls for vinegar, but I promise it is not overpowering, and it’s just a hint of tang. The Soy brings out the sweetness in the green beans, so the flavor is more balanced.

So let’s get started.

INGREDIENTS:

1 Tbsp. Olive oil or Avocado oil
1 lb. Green beans ( frozen, thawed)
4-5 Cloves garlic- minced
1 Tbsp. White vinegar
2 Tbsp. Soy sauce
Salt and pepper – to taste

DIRECTIONS:

  1. In a skillet over medium- low heat, add the oil. Allow the oil to warm through.
  2. Add the green beans and sautee for 2 to 3 minutes. You just want to warm them through.
  3. Add the garlic and sautee another 2 minutes, being careful not to burn the garlic. You can turn the heat down slightly if need be.
  4. Add the vinegar and toss together. Let the vinegar simmer with the green beans for about 1 minute or so.
  5. Add the soy sauce and toss together. Let the soy sauce simmer with the green beans for about 2 minutes.
  6. You can add a bit of salt if need be and some pepper to taste. Taste before adding salt, especially if you are using regular soy sauce. You don’t want it to be too salty. Season to taste.
  7. Remove from the skillet and place in a serving platter. Enjoy.
  • If you want the green beans to be a bit spicy, you can add either red pepper flakes, sliced chili peppers (seeded or deseeded), or Aleppo pepper.
  • If you want a milder flavor, you can swap out the white vinegar with white wine vinegar.
  • If you want a touch more sweetness, you can add a pinch of sugar or a teaspoon of honey. The honey will add a bit of a floral flavor to the beans and add a special touch.
  • Don’t add too much oil, as you want the flavors to slightly adhere to the green beans and not be swimming in oil. Be mindful.
  • If you want a more garlicky flavor, add more garlic. 1 to 2 extra cloves of garlic should do the trick.
