Simple Syrup Concentrate

Here is a very easy and simple recipe for simple syrup. It is easy to make and you can add any type of drink to sweeten it up. You can also add any type of flavoring you like to this to flavor your coffee or teas.

INGREDIENTS:

1 cup coconut or other type sugar of choice

1 cup water

DIRECTIONS:

  1. In a small saucepan combine the sugar and water and turn the heat to medium. Allow the sugar to melt and the mixture to come up to a boil. Continue to cook for 2 minutes after it comes to a boil. Remove from heat and allow to cool completely.

If you want to add in any flavoring you can do so at the start of the process. Here is a list of add-ins that I like to add to my simple syrups.

1 bunch of mint

1/2 cup blueberries

2 tbsp vanilla extract. 1 tbsp vanilla powder or two vanilla pods scraped and whole.

1 tsp of any flavor extract you like such as almond, coffee, lemon, or other.

date paste or syrup

Allow the flavorings to steep with the simple syrup while cooling. remove any type of herb you add before storing.  Strain the fruit before storing.

When the simple syrup is cooled pour into a glass jar with a lid and store in the fridge. I use this to flavor hot or iced coffee’s or teas.
