Simple Oven Fries

The ever-so-simple oven fries. Easy to make and everyone enjoys them. These are my go-to fries when I want to make them from scratch because they always turn out perfectly golden and crispy. If I am not cooking them up on the stovetop to make fried potatoes then this is how I make them. Your whole family will enjoy them.

Let me share with you how to make these yummy fries.

INGREDIENTS:

4 potatoes (washed and cut into wedges or into thick strips

1 Tsp smoked paprika ( regular paprika will also work well)

Salt and pepper to taste

1/4 to 1/2 Tsp cayenne pepper depending on how hot you want or like. (optional)

1 1/2 Tsp garlic powder

1 Tsp onion powder

Olive Oil  ( optional)

1/2 Tsp Seasoning Salt ( optional) Or you can use creole or cajun seasoning

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Preheat the oven to 425*.  Wash the potatoes and clean them well. Cut the potatoes into wedges or thick strips and place them into a large bowl or onto a parchment paper-lined sheet tray.
  2.  Add all of the spices and the oil and toss to coat well. Spread out evenly onto the prepared sheet tray.
  3. Place into the oven and bake for 20 minutes. Remove them from the oven and flip the potato fries over. Place them back into the oven and bake for an additional 20 to 25 minutes or until they are golden brown and cooked through. Remove them and let them sit for about 5 minutes before serving.
  • I like to serve these with either avocado dip, hummus, ketchup, or tomato sauce. They go with any type of dipping sauce you prefer.
  • When you are making Oven Fries, The sky is the limit with seasoning. You can make any combo your heart desires. I also use sweet potatoes and carrots as well. You can also cut the potatoes into cubes and fry them in an iron skillet with a little oil to turn them into home fries. We like them in all sorts of ways.
  • Potatoes are so versatile and delicious.
  • You can make these salt free.  Omit the salt and make sure that the seasoning you are using is salt-free.
  • You can make these oil-free. Omit the oil and bake as directed above until golden brown and cooked through.
