Jordanian Shish Kebabs

These Jordanian Kebabs are pretty easy to make and are so good. You can make them with either ground lamb, beef, chicken, or turkey. I like to make mine with ground beef because it is sometimes hard to find ground lamb where I live. It is typically made with ground lamb but you can use what you have on hand.

The kebabs are full of wonderful middle eastern spices and are cooked to perfection. Now, When it comes to this dish you can pair it with any middle eastern side dish as well as hummus and labneh. You can get my hummus and labneh recipes here on my blog. I typically pair any middle eastern dish with either a cucumber and tomato salad, hummus, labneh, or some form of middle eastern bread. I also have some wonderful bread recipes here as well that will pair perfectly with this dish.

Anyway, let me share with you how to make these tasty kebabs.

INGREDIENTS:

1 lb. Ground ( lamb, beef, chicken, or turkey)
3 Tbsp. Butter – room temp
2 Tsp. Dried parsley
1/2 Tsp. ground coriander
1/2 Onion – finely minced or grated
4 Cloves garlic – minced or grated
1/2 Tsp Cumin
1/2 Tsp ground allspice
1/4 Tsp Cinnamon
Salt and pepper – to taste

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Soak your wooden skewers in cold water for 30 minutes to 1 hour. You do not have to do this step if you are using metal skewers.
  2. Preheat your oven to 350* and line. a sheet tray with parchment paper.
  3. In a large bowl combine all of the ingredients. Mix well for 2 minutes.
  4. Take a small portion of the meat mixture and shape them onto the skewers in a cigar shape. Place them on the lined sheet tray.
  5. Brush the kebabs on both sides with olive oil or you can spray oil. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes or until cooked through. You can also do this on the stovetop. Just place them on a grill pan or large skillet and cook for 3 to 4 minutes per side or until cooked through. If you are baking the kebabs you can place them under the broiler for 2 to 3 minutes after they are fully cooked to brown them even more and get a nice caramelized color on them.
  6. Remove them from the oven and place them on a serving platter and let them cool slightly before serving.
