Cast Iron Seared Beef Tips

We love steak bites in this house, and if it were left up to my family, we would eat them every single day. lol. I try to make them as often as possible because they are easy to cook and very delicious. I always have some form of beef in the fridge just for occasions such as this. I just toss the beef in a marinade and sear it up, add a side, and we are good to go for dinner. Simple. Simple. Simple.

This is a recipe that I cook most often. I always have the ingredients for it, and it comes together very quickly.

Here’s what you will need.

INGREDIENTS:

2 lbs. Beef (any cut) cut into 1 1/2 inch pieces
Avocado Oil (or any flavorless oil)
1 Tbsp. Steak seasoning (your favorite)
1 Tbsp. Dried Parsley
2 Tsp. Garlic powder
2 Tsp. Paprika
1 Tsp. Onion powder
1/2 Tsp. Baking soda ( to tenderize the meat)
3 Tbsp. Fresh parsley – Chopped
2 Tbsp. Butter
3 Cloves Garlic – minced
1 Tbsp. Water

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Dice the meat into 1 1/2 in by 1 inch pieces and add to a bowl. Add 1 tbsp oil, steak seasoning, dried parsley, garlic powder, paprika, onion powder, and baking soda. Toss together until well combined and the meat is fully coated in the mixture. Cover and set aside for about 20 minutes.
  2. To a skillet over medium heat, add some oil and allow the oil to get hot. Working in batches, add half of the meat to the skillet and spread it out so the meat cooks evenly. Allow to cook for 2 to 3 minutes per side, or depending on how well done you like your beef cooked. If you want it more rare, cook for about 2 minutes per side. If you want it more well done, then cook for 4 minutes per side. Remove the meat to a plate while you finish up with the remaining beef.
  3. Add the beef back to the skillet and add the butter and minced garlic. Toss to coat the beef in the butter and cook for about 30 seconds to 1 minute.
  4. Add the water and toss quickly to help steam the meat. Finish by adding the fresh parsley and tossing to coat.
  5. Remove to a serving platter and let rest for 5 minutes before serving. This allows the juices to soak back into the meat, and it stays tender.
  • I typically have some form of beef in the fridge. Mainly a roast of some sort. You can chop it up to make steak bites, stews, stewed roast, or ground beef. I typically prefer this over other cuts of expensive meats bc it is more versatile in the kitchen with recipes.
  • Add a little lemon juice to brighten up the flavor, or if you want it spicy, you can add in some chipotle in adobo, red pepper flakes, cayenne pepper, or hot sauce to the marinade.
  • If you want to use this recipe for tacos or burritos, you can dice the meat a bit smaller and then sear it in the pan. This recipe will work great for beef tacos or burritos.
