Smoothies have become a part of my life and I love making a good smoothie for breakfast or lunch. It fills me up and keeps me full for hours, and in my opinion, they have to taste good. I love adding protein, fat, and fiber to my smoothies now to help keep me full and satisfied for a while.
This key lime pie smoothie tastes just like key lime pie, and it is so good. So you can skip the dessert and have this smoothie instead…. however, the dessert is also go. It’s called balance. I don’t eat a ton of sweets, so smoothies are my go-to to help keep me on track and it helps to dull my sweet tooth. So, if you like key lime pie you are going to love this smoothie.
Here is what you will need.
INGREDIENTS:
10 oz milk ( you can use water as well, or unsweetened almond or coconut milk)
17g (1 scoop) Vanilla protein powder
118g (1/2 cup) Greek yogurt – unflavored
2g – Zest of 2 key limes OR 1 regular lime
28g – Juice of 2 key limes OR 1 regular lime
10 g (1 Tbsp) Mascarpone cheese OR cream cheese
12g (1 Tbsp) Coconut butter or coconut cream
Pinch of Pink Salt
50g – 1/2 Frozen Banana
10 g (1 Tbsp) Chia seeds
DIRECTIONS:
- Add the liquid to the blender, followed by the remaining ingredients, making sure to add the chia seeds last. This helps the chia seeds blend better into the smoothie and not get gummy and stick to the bottom of the blender.
- Attach the lid, and if your blender has a smoothie function, you can use that, or you can blend on low for 1 to 2 minutes and then on high speed until the smoothie is smooth and well-blended. About 1 to 2 more minutes.
- Pour the smoothie into a large mug or cup and enjoy.
- I love using a 32-oz wide-mouth mason jar for my smoothies. If I take them on the go, I use my 42-ounce large tumbler.
- All of my smoothie recipes make 1 serving, so with that being said, you may have to top off some of the smoothies.
- If you like toppings on your smoothies you can add some toasted coconut chips or flakes to the top of the smoothie. If you want a chocolatey crunch, you can add 1 to 2 tbsp cacao nibs to the top as well. I like coconut flakes on this, but you do you, and top it with your favorite toppings.
