Almond Dulce De Leche Coffee Creamer

I love coffee, so it is appropriate to say that I also love coffee creamer. I love making my own to add the flavors I want and control the ingredients to get the best coffee creamer I can. Now I also like to try new coffee creamers to get the flavor profile of the creamer and try to recreate that flavor at home.

I love this coffee creamer because I can add a few more ingredients to get a different flavor profile. I will leave those variations below.

Here is what you will need.

INGREDIENTS:

12 oz Can of Evaporated Milk
13 oz Can of dulce de leche
1/4 C. Sugar ( more or less to your taste. See notes)
2 Tsp Almond Extract
1/4 Tsp. Kosher salt

DIRECTIONS:

  1. In a saucepan over medium-low heat, add the evaporated milk, sugar, dulce de leche, and salt. Whisk or stir the mixture until the dulce de leche has melted and combined with the evaporated milk. This will take a few minutes because the dulce de leche is so thick. It should take about 5 minutes.
  2. Once the mixture is combined and smooth remove the mixture from the heat. The total time should be 5 minutes or the mixture will become too thick.
  3. Add the almond extract and stir to combine well. place a paper towel over the top of the saucepan and place the lid on the paper towel to catch any excess moisture from the cooling process. Let the mixture cool completely. This should take about 1 hour.
  4. Once cool pour the mixture into your desired container, attach a lid, and place in the fridge. This will last up to 2 weeks but no longer.
  • For a more salted caramel flavor omit the almond extract and add in 1/2 Tbsp vanilla extract and 3 Tsp of kosher salt. You can adjust the saltiness and start by adding 1 tsp and add more to your desired taste. Stir the salt into the mixture well before adding more salt because you could make it way too salty.
  • For more of a chocolate caramel flavor omit the almond extract and add in 2 tsp vanilla extract and 2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder ( more if you want it more chocolatey) *You can also add in 1/2 tsp cinnamon and 2 tsp chili powder. Adjust the spices to your taste to make a “Mexican hot chocolate” flavor.*
  • You can adjust the sweetness of the creamer by adjusting the sugar. For less sweetness, you can omit the sugar. For medium sweetness ( what I do) add 1/4 to 1/3 cup sugar. For a sweeter creamer add 1/2 to 2/3 cup sugar. I like to add 1/4 cup sugar because I don’t like it too sweet. You can adjust this to your taste.
