I created this site to share with you all of our delicious recipes. I have compiled many family recipes, modern recipes, and so much more. My love for cooking and baking inspired me to start my own blog and my own youtube channel so I can share with you all things cooking and baking.
We love a good pasta salad and this is just one of many we love. It is super easy to make and it is so delicious. I usually double the sauce in this recipe because we love this dish extra saucy… but you can keep it as is if you prefer.
Let’s get started.
INGREDIENTS:
1 pack of tortellini pasta (any flavor) 2 cups chopped romaine lettuce 1/2 pint cherry tomatoes- halved 4-5 slices of bacon- cooked and crumbled 1 1/2 cups fresh mozzarella (diced) or mozzarella pearls
SAUCE: 3/4 cup buttermilk 3 tbsp or 1 pkg of ranch powder 1-2 to 1 tsp dried dill salt and pepper – to taste 1/4 cup mayo 1/4 cup sour cream 2 tsp hot sauce 1 clove garlic – minced 2 tsp vinegar 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
DIRECTIONS:
Bring a large pot of water to a boil and add salt, about 1 to 2 tbsp and stir to melt. Add the pasta and cook the tortellini according to the package directions. Drain and rinse with cold water. Set aside. You can cook your bacon at this point. Drain on a paper towel-lined plate or bowl.
In a bowl, combine the sauce ingredients and whisk until creamy and smooth.
To a large bowl add the pasta, romaine lettuce, tomatoes, bacon, and mozzarella. Add enough of the sauce to coat to your liking. Add more if needed. Stir or toss to combine well.
Taste and adjust the seasoning. At this point, you can chill covered in the fridge or eat this at room temp.
You can sub out the romaine lettuce for spinach if you prefer. It is a great substitute and makes it equally as delicious.
If you do not want to make your own sauce then you can go the easy route and buy a bottle of the premade stuff that you like and add it. I think the sauce is delicious and prefer it over the bottled stuff. To each their own. If you were to buy the premade ranch, I would recommend “Ken’s Steakhouse Ranch”.
Hello Everyone!
Thank you so much for stopping by. Let me tell you a little bit about me. I am a mom of two, a stepmom of 1, two wild and silly pups, and I have the best husband in the world. I also have a love of cooking and baking. I am always in the kitchen finding new recipes to try, recreating old family recipes, and reminiscing about the old ways. I am vintage at heart and love all things old and cast iron. I love spending time with the family and pups and just going where life takes us.
I created my blog a few years ago with my youtube channel because I thought that If I shared a recipe, then people just might like to see just how the recipe is put together. I share all of my family recipes along with today's recipes. Whether it is old-fashioned recipes, sourdough, einkorn, desserts, sheet pan meals, or even crockpot meals, they are all absolutely delicious.
I spend hours, if not days, creating and dabbling with recipes to make sure they are the best for you and your family. All of my recipes are family tested and family-approved before they are ever posted to my blog or youtube channel.
Every now and again I will share some behind-the-scenes fun and chaos of our creations and family adventures. I hope you all stick around and join us here at The Southern Rustic and see what we cook up in my kitchen. You can find all of my social media information in the Contact/Donate OR the Social Media Accounts tab on my home page. There I have listed my Instagram pages, YouTube channel, Email, and other information so you can easily find everything in one place.
I hope that you all have a wonderful, wonderful day and I will see you soon.
Sam
