Chicken Tenders With Honey Mustard Sauce

This is one recipe that I turn to when I really do not know what to make. It is easy and very delicious and you can make two different meals with one recipe. How awesome is that? It really is a staple in our home.

Chicken Tenders With Honey Mustard Sauce

INGREDIENTS:

1 lb chicken tenders ( cut in half lengthwise)
salt and pepper to taste
1/4 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp seasoning salt
2 tbsp buttermilk

1 cup flour
1 tsp seasoning salt
salt and pepper to taste
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp onion powder
1/2 tsp paprika
1 tsp cajun or creole seasoning

oil for frying
1/2 cup mayo
1/3 cup honey
2 tsp dijon mustard
pinch of salt – about 1/4 tsp

DIRECTIONS:

  1. in a bowl combine the salt, pepper, baking soda, seasoning salt, and buttermilk. mix well. Cut the tenders in half to make two equal pieces lengthwise. Add to the mixture. Toss well and let set 20 minutes or overnight covered.
  2. In a separate bowl combine the mayo, salt, honey, and dijon mustard. Mix well and cover. Set aside until ready to use.
  3. In another bowl combine the flour, seasoning salt, salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika and cajun seasoning. mix well.
  4. Heat a large skillet over medium heat and add enough oil to cover the bottom of the pan.
  5. Dredge the chicken in the flour mixture and set on a plate.
  6. Add the chicken tenders to the hot pan carefully. Let cook 2 to 3 minutes on each side until cooked through and golden brown. Remove to a paper towel lined plate. Cook the remaining tenders.
  7. Serve with the dipping sauce.
  • You ca double dredge these to make them extra crispy. Just make a egg and milk mixture and double dredge before frying. Dip in the flour, egg mixture, flour mixture, egg mixture and back into the flour mixture. Set on a plate before frying. Add a bit more oil to the pan if you are using this method.
  • To make wraps – add lettuce, tomato, chicken tenders to a large flour tortilla and drizzle with the sauce or ranch dressing and wrap up and enjoy.
  • Serve with fries if you like or a side salad.
  • Add the crispy tinders to a large salad for a fried chicken salad.
