If you like cherries and cola floats, then you will love this one. It is so good, and it’s so easy to make. Now, I am not a fan of cherry-flavored anything, but this… this is delicious. It is perfect for your summer nights or your chilly fall bonfires. These are perfect for movie nights and are sure to be a crowd-pleaser.
Let’s get to making these cola floats.
INGREDIENTS:
CHERRY ALMOND SYRUP:
1/2 C. Maraschino cherry juice
2 Tbsp. Brown sugar
1/2 Tsp. Vanilla
1/8 Tsp. Almond extract
1/4 Tsp. Salt ( I use fine salt)
FLOATS:
Vanilla Ice Cream
Very cold cherry cola (Coke or Dr. Pepper- either will work depending on which brand you prefer.)
Maraschino cherries (stem on or off – Either will work)
DIRECTIONS:
- In a small saucepan, combine the cherry juice, brown sugar, vanilla, almond extract, and salt. Mix well.
- Bring to a simmer over medium-low heat. Stir until the sugar dissolves. This should take about 3 to 4 minutes. The mixture should be slightly syrupy.
- Remove and cool completely.
- In a tall glass, spoon 2 to 3 tbsp of the syrup into the bottom of your glass.
- Add two scoops of vanilla ice cream into the tall glass and pour over your cold cherry cola.
- Add a drizzle of extra syrup on top and one or two maraschino cherries on top. You can also add a bit of whipped cream on top.
- Add a straw and enjoy!
NOTES:
- This is how I assemble mine. Cherry almond syrup, Ice cream (2 scoops), Cherry cola, whipped cream, A drizzle of extra syrup, and a cherry on top.
- I also use vanilla bean Ice cream. Any brand that is your favorite will do.
- You can use cherry cola, cherry vanilla, cherry float cola, or vanilla cola. Any one of these will work in this. They will all offer slightly different flavors. If you do not want to add any of these flavors then simply just add regular cola or Dr. Pepper. It won’t be the same, but it will still make a pretty good cola float.
- You do not have to add the whipped cream. I sometimes do not. It will still be wonderful either way.
