Coconut Cherry Smoothie

I have to admit that I am not a fan of anything Cherry-flavored. This Coconut Cherry Smoothie has a hint of vanilla, cherry, and coconut. It is so good. This is a delicious “cherry-flavored” drink I can truly enjoy. It is perfect any time of year but especially during the warmer spring and summer months. It is so good that even your kids will love it. My family has approved this as well as many other smoothie recipes that are already on my blog and some that will eventually make their way to my blog. So stay tuned and be sure that you are on my notifications list so you get notified whenever I upload any new recipe.

Want to try it? Here is the recipe.

INGREDIENTS:

10 oz. Coconut milk (you can also use organic raw or whole milk or a mix of 2 oz milk and 8 oz water)
1/2 c. (118g) Whole milk greek yogurt
1 Scoop (18g) Vanilla protein powder ( you can also use coconut-vanilla protein powder)
1/2 c. (75g) Frozen cherries – unsweetened
1/4 to 1/2 c. (19-24g) Unsweetened coconut flakes/chips/chunks
1/2 (50g) Frozen banana
1 tbsp. (12g) Coconut butter ( you can also use coconut cream- that is the thick stuff in a can of unshaken coconut milk)
1 tbsp. (5g) Hemp seeds

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Add all of the ingredients into a blender making sure to add the hemp seeds last. This helps them blend better and not sink to the bottom of the blender.
  2. Blend all ingredients until smooth. If you have a smoothie setting on your blender you can use that or you can blend on low for 10 to 15 seconds and then on high until smooth. Pour into you serving glass and enjoy. This makes 1 serving.

  • If you do not like hemp seeds or just want to switch up the fiber in this smoothie you can swap the hemp seeds for chia seeds, ground or whole flax seeds, or edible basil seeds. They all work well and are interchangeable in all of my smoothie recipes.
  • If you do not want to add whole milk Greek yogurt to your smoothie you can add skyr or kefir instead. You can also opt out of all of the “protein’ portion and just add in 36g of vanilla protein powder. That is 2 scoops of protein powder. I use vital proteins vanilla protein powder. Be sure to read the back of your favorite protein powder for cup measurements.
  • If you can not find coconut butter you can use coconut cream. For this, if you can not find it in-store or online, just get a can of whole-fat coconut milk and let it sit on the counter for a few hours. Do not shake the can before opening and scoop out the coconut cream that is solidified at the top of the can. You can discard the rest and just keep the cream in an airtight container in the fridge for about 1 to 2 weeks.
