When it comes to chocolate milk I love making my own. It is so easy to make and you can control the amount of sugar and other ingredients that you put in it. This is also a great replacement and a healthier option than store-bought chocolate or other flavored-style milk, and your kids will love it. I will also share some healthier swaps below the recipe just in case you are allergic to or can not have chocolate in all its forms.
INGREDIENTS: (serves 1)
1 1/3 C. Milk
2 Tsp. Cocoa Powder
1 -4 tsp Sweetener of choice ( Honey, Maple Syrup, Sugar, Sugar substitute)
DIRECTIONS:
- In a blender or a mason jar add the milk, sweetener, and cocoa powder. Blend until smooth. You can use a stick blender or a whisk to blend in the mason jar or you can attach the lid and shake it until it is smooth.
- Serve Cold. Enjoy! It is that simple. Simple ingredients and very delicious.
- Here are some options for other flavored milk.
- 1/4 cup of fruit such as strawberries, blueberries, peaches, or mixed berries.
- 2 tsp. of Carob powder for a wonderful chocolatey flavor without using cocoa powder.
- Here is a tripled version of the recipe just in case you have more than one child. * 8 cups of milk, 2 1/2 to 3 tbsp cocoa or carob powder, 2/3 to 3/4 cup fruit of choice if you want different style milk, 1/3 cup sweetener of choice ( more or less depending on your flavor and sweetness level. Taste and adjust before serving). Blend in a blender until smooth. You can add all of the ingredients to a large pitcher and use a stick blender to blend until smooth. Serve cold.
- Will last up to 1 week in the fridge if you make a large batch. Keep in a container with a tight-fitting lid. I make 1 serving at a time to cut down on waste.
- You can use any style of milk that you prefer. I use whole milk or raw milk but other styles of milk like almond milk will work just fine.
