Homemade Honey Mustard

If I can make things from scratch I will. There is just something about making things from scratch at home that makes recipes and food that much better. You know exactly what is in your food and you can control things like spices, heat, salt, and sugar in a recipe. Plus getting in the kitchen and just creating recipes is something I enjoy and is relaxing to me. I find joy and comfort in it.

Let me share with you my homemade honey mustard. It is so simple.

INGREDIENTS:

1 Egg
1 C. Avocado or Olive Oil
1 Tbsp. Mustard ( I use yellow)
2 Tbsp. Honey
Salt and Pepper – to taste

DIRECTIONS:

  1. In a mason jar ( I use wide-mouth mason jars) Add your egg. Then add in the oil, mustard, honey, salt, and pepper.
  2. Using a stick blender, stick it all the way down to the bottom of the jar over the egg yolk. Start blending slowly working your way upward so the oil can incorporate into the egg well. Once the mixture is completely blended together you can adjust the salt.
  3. Store this in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 1 1/2 weeks.

  • If you do not have a stick blender you can do this in a food processor or blender. Add all of the ingredients except the oil and start blending. Slowly drizzle in the oil until the mixture is thick, smooth, and creamy.
  • I use this for a lot of things like salad dressings, sandwiches, dips, and wraps.
  • This makes about 1 cup of honey mustard and never lasts long in our house.
