Southwest Seasoning Spice Blend

This is my recipe for “Southwest Seasoning Blend” a blend of spices and herbs that I use often in southwestern-style cooking. I use it most in Tex-Mex style recipes or if I want a southwest flare to my food. This blend has a few herbs and spices but it is the perfect amount. Now, with any recipe, you can always add to or take out anything you do not like or adjust the spiciness level.

Store this spice blend in an airtight container or mason jar in the pantry for up to 6 months. Mine never lasts that long but I have a love for herbs and spices. I like my food to be as flavorful as possible. lol. In some of my recipes, I highlight the spices and herbs, and in other dishes, I highlight the other ingredients. It is a great balance when you have an overstock of all things spices. lol. What can I say, I love spices.

INGREDIENTS:

2 Tbsp. Chili Powder
1 Tbsp. Cumin
1 Tbsp. Smoked Paprika
1 Tbsp. Garlic Powder
1 Tbsp. Dried Oregano
1/2 Tbsp. Onion Powder
1 Tbsp. Salt
1 Tsp. Sugar
2 Tsp. Ground Coriander
1 Tsp. Turmeric
1 Tsp. Pepper
1 Tsp. Cayenne Pepper ( you can adjust this for your level of heat)

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Combine all ingredients in a bowl and stir to combine. You can also add this directly into your mason jar and shake it until it is combined well. Cover with a lid and store in your pantry. This will last about 6 months or longer if don’t use it regularly.

  • As stated above you can adjust any of these herbs and spices to your liking or heat level. Check out my southwest chicken salad recipe which uses this particular spice blend.
