Chicken Burgers

Typically when I make burgers I use beef. I am a beef burger person. I have recently been getting into eating more chicken burgers. These burgers I have tweaked a little here and there and they have turned out delicious and they pair well with all of your burger sides. They defiantly don’t skimp on flavor.

My husband is not a chicken burger person and will 99% of the time skip it. With him and my daughter being the “taste testers” of this particular recipe over the last few months they give this recipe a thumbs up. They told me I needed less of this and more of that making this recipe what it now is. Something very easy to make and very delicious.

This recipe is something that you can certainly double or triple if you have a larger family than I do. You can double up on the recipe and make a double patty burger and serve it with your favorite fries.

Anyway… let’s make some burgers.

INGREDIENTS:

1 Lb. Ground Chicken
1/4 C. bread crumbs ( I use sourdough bread crumbs but any kind will work)
1/4 C. Chopped Fresh parsley (or 2 tsp dried)
2 Cloves Garlic – Minced
Salt and Pepper – to taste
1 Tsp. Onion Powder
1/2 Tsp. Garlic powder
3- 5 drops of Liquid Smoke ( any flavor)
2 Tsp. Dijon Mustard (spicy brown will work also)
Burger Buns
Toppings of choice

DIRECTIONS:

  1. In a bowl combine all of the ingredients except the buns. Using your hands gently mix everything together until just combined. You don’t want to over-mix it and make your burgers tough. Keep in mind that chicken is a lighter texture so be careful when forming and cooking.
  2. Cover with plastic wrap and let stand for 10 minutes.
  3. Divide the mixture into 4 equal sections and shape into 4 equal pieces. Gently press and shape the sections into 4 equally shaped patties about 1/3-inch thick. Place on a plate and shape the rest. Let’s stand while you preheat your pan.
  4. Place a large skillet over medium-low heat and gently place the patties into the pan. Cook for 4-5 minutes on each side or until the chicken patties are cooked through. Remove from the pan to a plate.
  5. Butter each slice of the burger bun and place on the skillet center side down. Let the bread toast for 2 to 3 minutes or until the desired toastiness. Remove to a plate.
  6. Assemble your burgers how you like them.

  • My burgers go like this: bottom bun, mayo, lettuce, chicken patty, tomato, salt, pepper, onion, pickle, mayo, and I finish with the top bun. Yumm.
  • Serve these chicken burgers with your favorite fries, tots, or chips.
  • Add a little bit of red pepper flakes to the mix for a nice kick of heat. You. can also use your favorite brand of hot sauce. You can even add a bit of cayenne pepper to the mixture.
  • I always toast the buns of any burgers. It gives it so much more flavor and texture. You can always skip this step if you want.
  • I use sourdough burger buns but any style of burger buns will do. You do you and make them your own.
